William Saunderson, famous for his “Laughing At Liberals” videos on YouTube was brutally attacked and seriously injured during a meeting with the attacker, Skye Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald, also a videographer, is known for making various video documentaries.

He was supposedly working on a “neutral” documentary about the ongoing gun debate and had called on several pro-gun activists including Saunderson to provide input for his latest film.

The two were meeting at a local Gresham restaurant to discuss a preview of the film being pitched by Fitzgerald and seen by Saunderson. Saunderson was upset that the film which had been touted for his input as neutral, was in fact, anti-gun biased.

This brutal attack is just a sample of what we in the pro-gun movement has said all along. Gun owners seem to show more responsibility and restraint, while the anti-gun movement has repeatedly shown a violent streak.

The victim of this latest attack, Mr. Saunderson, is currently undergoing surgery on his left arm which was seriously (and potentially permanently) injured. His upper arm is broken in 3 places with the ball broken completely off and shoulder dislocated. The doctor says he will be lucky if he recovers 80% use.

It is interesting to note that shortly after the attack, Fitzgerald “tweeted” 3 individuals. Two Oregon State Representatives (Ginny Burdick and Earl Blumenauer), both anti-gun advocates and Jake Weigler, an Oregon political planner.

You can read the eye witness account of the attack HERE.

The first thing that needs to be discussed about this news comes from reporter of the original article who states “Gun owners seem to show more responsibility and restraint, while the anti-gun movement has repeatedly shown a violent streak.” We unequivocally agree with this statement.

The anti-gun crowd has shown time and time again that they are a vitriolent and violent crowd; while the pro-gun crowd consistently shows their respect for not using violence unless absolutely necessary. Why is this?

There could be any number of reasons for this, but let’s examine a couple.

First, the anti-gun crowd is often heard saying guns are dangerous in the hands of people because someone could simply snap and start killing people. The fear being that during highly emotional situations, someone with a gun will lose control and start killing people. Gun users simply find this absurd.

Maybe it is because people who are anti-gun do not trust themselves? Maybe they feel deep down inside that they are unable to control their emotions and anger, and if they had a gun in their hand at highly emotional times, that they would in fact use it to harm people.

Perhaps this is the root of their fear, insomuch as they fear their inability to control themselves thus everyone must also be unable to do so, and all guns needs to be abolished.

A second theory is maybe because as gun owners who train we have to learn restraint and self discipline as part of being responsible gun owners.

In either case, Mr. Fitzgerald is in a heap of trouble because he was unable to control himself. After being confronted and recorded about his lies, he lost control and seriously injured another human being who may never have full use of his arm ever again.

Furthermore, he stole the cameras, presumably to erase what was on them, and now faces theft charges as well.

We find it kind of curious that the first communication with the outside world after this incident is a tweet @ two state congress members who are openly anti-gun, and one anti-gun advocate on the payroll of Bloomberg.

One might have to wonder what involvement these people had in the making of this anti-gun film, and what impact they were hoping it would make on the gun debate in Oregon.

Our wishes go out to Mr. Saunders, and hope he enjoys a full and speedy recovery.
