Our Constitution Held The Means To Protect Carol Bowne
That same day, news of Bowne’s brutal murder started coming out of New Jersey. She had been stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend, against whom she had filed a restraining order. It was also revealed that she applied to get a gun for self-protection, but New Jersey’s ridiculous gun laws got in the way, and she didn’t get her permit in time. She also installed a home surveillance system, which according to Channel 6 in Philadelphia, “captured the entire incident.”
This is one of those stories that makes you sick and not just over what happened that night, but also over what has happened since. As Cameron Gray explained, there was no major coverage of this story, and it was quickly lost in the wake of what I consider to be more trivial and childish stories. I can understand the mainstream media not touching this with a ten-foot stick as they already lean heavily to the side of “Gun Control”, but I was very saddened to not see the type of coverage I believe Carol deserved from the news outlets who do support and cover “Gun Rights.”
Carol Bowne lost her life last week, and our own Constitution gives her the right to protect herself-a right that, according to our Constitution, “shall not be infringed.” But that’s exactly what New Jersey did here and continues to do along with the other states that use every excuse in the book to infringe on our rights. And when you circle back to the federal government, the “infringement” gets so out of hand that it becomes difficult to fathom.
But aside from where you land on the issue of gun control, this law-abiding citizen went through the proper channels. She sought her protection legally and was still left with no protection when she needed it most. This goes far beyond New Jersey “infringing” on her right and ability to obtain the gun in the first place. Although Carol may have soon received her permit to obtain the gun, the right to use it would’ve again been “infringed” upon as New Jersey State law prohibits permitted firearm owners from having a loaded and accessible gun within a vehicle.
Our Constitution is very clear. This right is ours. It is not dependent on a permit, and it shall not be infringed. The “Gun Control” advocates need to remember this: “It is not by disarming the people that we disarm the criminals.”

If “government” is just another word for the things we do together, then, frankly, we failed — and damnably. All Carol Bowne asked was that she be permitted to exercise her right to protect herself in her own home; instead, she ended up bleeding to death in her driveway, as the paper-pushers and know-it-alls decided whether they would deign to indulge her request, and her killer sped away, without fear of retaliation or injury.
