Man scared for his and his eight month old baby’s life shoots intruder during daylight robbery
A Lake Highlands homeowner shot an intruder Tuesday morning. Kendrick Dickson says a loud sound woke him from a nap.
He realized two men had pried open a side door with a crowbar and were walking through his house.
“I was kind of scared at first,” he said. “I got my 8-month-old little boy here.”
Dickson says he grabbed his rifle and confronted the pair.
“I stood right over there and shot him. And, as I shot him, his friend pushed him down on the ground and ran out,” he said.
The intruder that was shot had already staggered to a convenience store and asked for help by the time Kendrick Dickson called 911. Intruder #1 is recovering in a local hospital and Intruder #2 has a warrant out for his arrest.
Kendrick’s mother Linda came home after undergoing chemotherapy at the hospital, just minutes after the whole encounter, and was relieved and shocked by what had happened, saying that her grandchildren are her life and she wouldn’t know what to do without them.
Kendrick said “he did what came naturally.”
“I was just thinking, protect my family, protect my property, protect myself, and that’s what I did today,” he said.
Here’s another fantastic instance of defensive gun use, this man is completely within his rights. He feared for his family’s life and acted quickly. Instances like these will continue to deter criminals and keep America safer. If I were in this man’s shoes I would’t only be mad that people broke into my house, I would load my rifle with the rage that someone just woke up my 8 month old and prevented me from more precious sleep.
Carry on, ladies and gentlemen, and always defend, because a right not exercised is a right lost.
