Cuomo urges Dems in Congress to shut down government to get gun control law
“His murder showed a disrespect for life so base that it didn’t even care who it struck down,” Cuomo said as Gabay’s widow Trenelle Gabay and his mother Audrey listened intently from the front pew.
While the murder of Cuomo aide Carey Gabay was an absolute tragedy the movement to push what Gov. Cuomo already knows is an absolute failing policy forward in Gabay’s name is unforgivable. To have a press conference setup outside the mans funeral to me shows utter disrespect rather the honor.
If Gov. Cuomo wanted to honor the memory of Carey Gabay he would try to enact some sort of change in gun laws that actually affected the criminals like the man who gunned down Carey Gabay. In his eulogy Cuomo didn’t waste any time in getting to the finger pointing and the policy:
“If the far right is willing to shut down the government because they don’t get a tax cut for the rich, then our people should have the same resolve and threaten to shut down the government if they don’t get a real gun control law to stop killing of their innocents,” he said.
But this is all fodder, and Cuomo knows this better than anyone, federal gun laws with expanded background checks, mandatory minimum sentences, and bans on certain types of guns, will do absolutely nothing to curb gun violence and every LEFTIST politician knows that. Look at New York city where this tragic event took place, they have some of the strictest gun laws in the country and the gun violence in the city is outrageous.
Cuomo’s biggest failing yet has been the SAFE Act in which New Yorkers were required to register all “Assault Weapons” has been a complete failure whereas only a small fraction of the owners of these types of weapons have complied. So now we are on to a new Cuomo drive to push more legislature that will do nothing to end gun violence, especially the type of gun violence which killed Gabay.
The final word and what should be the end all to the conversation of gun control when in reference to limiting the ability of legal law abiding Americans to protect themselves is this: CRIMINALS DO NOT OBEY LAWS
