Burglars shot trying to enter man’s home
SOUTHWEST HOUSTON – In broad daylight Saturday, three suspects attempted to break into a man’s home.
But they were quickly chased off as the homeowner grabbed a gun and opened fire, hitting two of the suspects.
The suspects started banging on the front door of the man’s home. When he opened the door, they attempted to barge in.
“We seen guys running off because we had the door open,” said neighbor Matthew Carter.
A window in Carter’s house was struck by a stray bullet during the shooting. But Carter says he holds no ill will.
“I would do the same thing,” he said. “I don’t blame them for the window, cause I would do the same thing.”
It didn’t take long for police to catch all three suspects. Two were taken to the hospital with bullet wounds, while the other was taken to jail. Police said two of the suspects were juveniles.
Neighbors say next time someone tries to break into a house in the neighborhood, they burglars better think twice.
“People work hard for their things,” Carter said. “It’s not right to take those things away from people.”
At first it seemed as though these burglar-invaders were getting either dumber or braver by attempting these invasions during the day. But as the article goes on we learn that this motley crew was made up of mostly juvenile delinquents.
It is hard to imagine just being in your home during a perfectly peaceful afternoon, then within seconds you are fighting for you life and shooting at a trio of home invaders.
This is an excellent example, however, as to why you want to carry in your home. Threats to you life do not only happen when you are out and about, danger can come right to your front door (or back door, or side window). Many concealed carriers take off their gun once they get home, this is a mistake.
Running to fetch a firearm in a moments notice is not ideal. You may or may not get sufficient warning that something bad is about to happen in your home.
If one of those times comes when you have no warning, like a group of people coming through your front door, and your gun is not on you – things could go really bad.
Luckily, for our homeowner here, he had sufficient time to arm himself and was able to repel this attack by three delinquents who wanted to take what didn’t belong to them.
