Woman kills 60-year-old man, apparently in self-defense, deputies say

A 60-year-old Belton man has died after being shot, but no charges are expected in the case, according to investigators.
Anderson County Coroner Don McCown said it appears Bratcher went to the home in, forced his way inside and was asked to leave. He and a woman in the home got into a physical altercation before the woman shot him with a .38 caliber handgun.
Our Take:
If the speculations are true and this female shot an intruder out of self-defense, then she did the right thing here. Protecting her life in her own home from a strange man should be an obvious decision.
Daniel Marvin Bratcher denied his right to life when he forcibly entered the home and physically harassed the woman inside. This is when all my sympathy for this man’s life vanishes. The lack of compassion for the woman he attacked justifies her defensive actions.
According to reports, the homeowner used a .38 caliber handgun to protect herself. This weapon, coupled with an awareness of the situation, ultimately saved the woman’s life. If she hadn’t had the gun, a different body would be occupying that morgue drawer today.
Anti gunners question the need for guns in civilian hands. Must we spell it out to you? We need them for our safety and the safety of others around us. Some situations just cannot be solved by a quick call to emergency services; they require a swifter solution to the threat at hand. Take this situation as an example. This woman needed to respond to the man’s violent actions toward her, and what better way to counter an attack then with a loaded firearm?
We here at Defend and Carry applaud this lady’s actions. She earned her life as a result of killing another. This may not always be the right decision, but here it was. It comes as no surprise that “no charges are expected in this case.”
