Kim Kardashian demands tighter gun laws

Kim Kardashian called for tighter gun-control laws, endorsed Hillary Clinton and spoke about Caitlyn Jenner’s transition in an eloquent interview at the prestigious Commonwealth Club of California.
She was there to promote Selfish – her new book on selfies – and her video game app but she spent most of the time tackling questions on tough topics including racism in America and gay rights.
I feel like I need a long walk to clear my head after reading this article. Kim Kardashian’s words gave me the urge to drip hot Tabasco sauce straight into one eye while simultaneously shoving a stick into the other. I truly feel dumber after reading about her stance on gun control. Let me attempt to regenerate my brain cells lost while reading this article, and point out just how ridiculous her words really are.
These are little Kimmy’s words, according to the DailyMail.com: “If I could do something to change the world… I’m not really a gun person, and we do not have strict enough gun control laws.” Google image search this socialite, and you’ll come up with some conflicting images to the statement:
This is hypocrisy at its finest. Like the brain cells I fried while reading this article, her credibility will never come back again. This isn’t the first time she’s pledged against the use of firearms.
I’d like to know why we as a society rely so heavily on the opinions of celebrities. How often do they bring a more knowledgeable opinion than the average person to the table? Almost never. What could their insight provide that ours cannot? Not much.
Most celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, are quite disconnected from society and the daily struggles we contend with. These public figures have a skewed sense of reality because of their fame and riches, but yet they like to share their opinion to the world as if it means more than our own. I just don’t understand the logic behind it.
If Kim was more read and learned person on the subject of gun control, then I may listen more closely-but she’s not. Her fame came as a product of being the daughter of a big-shot lawyer, being friends with Paris Hilton (another socialite who’s words should be taken with a grain of salt), and a leaked sex tape. These are the people that make the front pages and have an affect on our society.
That’s just scary to think about.
