If it were up to this joint this man may have been killed
Whataburger joined the many other restaurants opposing the new open carry law passed in Texas. Their reasoning sounds all too familiar to those of us who recognize anti-gun rhetoric.
D&C actually covered this story when Whataburger made these eye-rolling statements last year. “We’re a gathering spot for Little League teams, church groups and high school kids after football games. We’ve had many customers and employees tell us they’re uncomfortable being around someone with a visible firearm who is not a member of law enforcement, and as a business we have to listen and value that feedback in the same way we value yours,”
Wouldn’t as an establishment that is a gathering spot for Little League teams, church groups and high school kids want to have increased measures of safety and crime prevention?! The fact that they value their customer and employees “comfort” over their actual lives..?
So then this happened, via fox4news.com.
DALLAS – Two armed robbers picked the wrong victim in northwest Dallas.
Police said they approached a man eating his dinner in the parking lot of Whataburger at Inwood Road and Lemmon Avenue and tried to rob him around 1 a.m.Thursday morning.
The man was an off-duty, but armed security guard. He shot and killed one of the robbers. The other ran away.
Police have since detained a man who is possibly the second suspect. He is being questioned by investigators.
The dead suspect’s identity has not yet been released. Police said he did have a pistol.
So Whataburger, answer us this, if those armed thugs had gone inside and shot and killed someone in an unfortunately common botched robbery, would a few customers comfort matter at that point?
If this man hadn’t been armed, and those robbers had gone inside and wreaked havoc, would it really matter that a few customers get uncomfortable at the sight of a firearm? You tell us: what really matters more?
