Man Turns His Passion Into A Viable Business

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Just in time for the Fourth of July comes a story about patriotism, the Bill of Rights and a man who is combining pride in both into a growing business.

BearArms was started one-and-a-half years ago by Louisville native Sean Ramsey.

Ramsey said he’s a huge admirer of the military but he also has a lot of fans in law enforcement and supporters of the Second Amendment, for which his business is named.

He’s spreading the word with a twist he calls “Operation Patriotic Package.” At least once a day, and sometimes more, Ramsey climbs into his car and goes for a drive.

He heads to the post office to drop off product to customers, but along the way, he keeps his eyes peeled for a show of pride in USA: American flags, military flags or flags supporting law enforcement. Into the mailbox of those homes, Ramsey puts his pride and joy: A BearArms bracelet, made of two bullet casings and specialized rope.

“I put in a personalized message that I type up,” he said, “and I incorporate it into the package with them and it’s from me with my information.”

It’s Ramsey’s way of spreading the word about the business that’s his full-time job, a salute to the military that he invited us into his home and headquarters to check out.

“There’s not a whole lot of stuff out there that people who support their 2nd Amendment, who support their military and law enforcement can go buy,” he said.

Ramsey has never been in the military, but he has friends who have.

“I take my hats off to those guys. I really do praise those guys, all the time,” he said.

For people in doubt, Ramsey said his product in no way promotes violence. In fact, he makes bracelets in support of law enforcement as well. He said those groups and their families and supporters appreciate the bracelets and have given him his biggest honor.

“I’ve actually been saluted by a guy in uniform and to me a salute is a huge form of respect,” he said.

Ramsey started his business on social media and that’s still how word spreads. He sells about 200 bracelets a month for between $10 and $25. You can find out more by clicking here.
