Mom’s Choose Guns over Cinnamon Buns

Moms skip brunch, take Mother’s Day concealed carry class instead

On this Mothers’ Day, the USCCA offered a free class just for women taught by a woman. Instructor Beth Alcazar writes a blog called Pacifiers & Peacemakers.

“You always have the emergency situation pacifier to make sure the baby’s happy, but you also need to protect your family,” Alcazar told TODAY’S TMJ4 reporter Tom Murray. “So, I always carry my firearm.”

About two dozen Wisconsin moms took the training required for a concealed carry permit.

“I have a six and seven-year-old,” one mom said. “My husband works long hours and it’s nice for me to know how to protect myself at home.”

The United States Concealed Carry Association hosted its first expo ever in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Around 30% of the USCCA’s growth can be attributed to women, and the expo did an exceptional job of providing resources for its female crowd.

For women wanting more than just breakfast in bed there were vendors showcasing concealed carry apparel just for them; everything from concealing purses to quick draw shirts were on display.

The women who attended Alcazar’s class are part of a growing group who understand the value of a concealed carry.

A pacifier keeps the baby happy; it doesn’t keep it safe. Carrying a concealed weapon is part of an effort to be prepared for any type of emergency.

These mothers are taking the necessary steps to be there for their children, whether its a swift diaper change or neutralizing a violent criminal.
