According to KHOU-TV, Zain Jangda was about to walk into the store himself, when he saw the officer —who works for a department in Tomball, Texas, and was not in uniform at the time — try to stop the robbers who were coming out of the convenience mart.
A robbery was taking place in a gas station in Houston, Texas when an off duty officer rolled in for some gas and realized what was going on inside.
The two armed robbers bumped into the cop on their way out of the store and when he identified himself a gunfight broke out. Witnesses hid and one man who had almost went inside while the robbery was taking place recorded what happened on his cellphone.
I can imagine the officer just wanted to fill up his gas tank and continue with his day off but probably felt like Bruce Willis in every Die Hard movie, somehow always at the right place for the action. I’m sure the witnesses were not paying attention when the cop mumbled “Yippee-ki-yay mother******” and headed towards the robbers after preparing his weapon.
The scene was riddled with bullet holes, casings and witnesses thankful for their safety.
It’s not pleasant to think of what could have happened if that officer wasn’t needing gas at that moment. The fact that he dove headfirst into a very dangerous situation says a lot more than what is demanded of an off duty public servant. These are the stories about our police officers you don’t hear about.
The other people that also happened to be there at that time realized through a very harrowing experience the benefits of a well trained police officer carrying a firearm.
Criminals will always prey on the defenseless, they will always take advantage of being stronger or in a better position to get what they want regardless of those around them. It’s up to us to stand up and defend ourselves and refuse to be a standby victim.
