Rape Victim SLAMS Moms Demand: Why Do You Want Women Defenseless?
Eight years ago, during my junior year at the University of Nevada-Reno, I was raped in the parking garage only feet away from the campus police office.
As this stranger raped me while holding a pistol to my temple, I could see the police cruisers parked for the night, and I knew no one was coming to help me.”
At the time of my attack, I had obtained my Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permit for the personal choice of not wanting to be a defenseless target. In Nevada, permit holders are not allowed to carry firearms on campuses. As a law-abiding citizen, I left my firearm at home, which means that the law that is meant to ensure my safety only guaranteed the criminal an unmatched victim.
. . . Had I been carrying my firearm, I would have been able to stop the attack. Not only that, but two other rapes would have been prevented and three young lives would have been saved, including my own.”
My case is a perfect example that despite law enforcement’s best efforts to ensure our safety, they are unable to be everywhere at once. All I wanted was a chance to effectively defend myself.
Those are quite some powerful statements Ms. Collins is making. I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to read the entire piece HERE if you have a few minutes. She tells an incredible story and really nails home her point.
We took the most important comments to the point we would like to make through Ms. Collins experience. Sadly, as she writes, she was raped not more than a few feet from the campus security office, and stared at the parked security cars that no one was manning as she was being raped.
Another tragic aspect about this event is that Amanda was a concealed carry holder. However, as a law abiding citizen she left her firearm at home per the law that requires guns not be brought on campus.
Had she had her weapon on her she could not only have defended herself, but also prevented the rape of two other women who would later be victims of this same maniac.
If people can take away one aspect of her account, I would hope that it would be her testament to the fact that by not allowing her to carry her gun on campus “guaranteed the criminal an unmatched victim.”
This is something that pro-gun groups have been saying for a longtime about any place that is considered a “gun free zone.” These places only disarm law abiding citizens and allow bad guys a harvesting ground of defenseless victims.
