Seven Against One In Kroger Parking Lot

Citizen with Handgun Breaks up Assault on Elderly Man

LITTLE ROCK, AR — A trip to the grocery turns into a stand-off when a shopper decides to take the law into his own hands.

The armed shopper, who’d wanted to be identified as “Gene,” said he had two options: ignore the surrounded elderly man or do something he thought he’d never have to.

The photo above shows the heated stand-off at the Chenal Parkway Kroger Wednesday night.

“I was freaking out; I was shaking,” said Gene.

The 24-year-old said when he was leaving the grocery store, he saw something he couldn’t ignore.

“I saw seven people against one guy and I did not like those odds,” said Gene.

The out numbered man was elderly so Gene said he felt obligated to get involved. With his gun drawn, the attackers turned their attention.

“They kept yelling this ‘isn’t your fight, you need to walk away you need to put the gun down’,” said Gene.

While all this was happening, shoppers pulled out a weapon of their own–their cell phones–so they can take pictures and call police.

“Some lady behind yells ‘there’s a man with a gun to 911,'” said Gene.

By the time police arrived the attackers and the victim took off. Turns out, they were all related. Police said the man was an uncle being assaulted by his nephew.

Gene assessed the situation, thinking of the possible outcomes of the situation and choosing to defend an innocent victim from seven attackers.

He knew the odds were against the elderly man. He knew how quickly the scene could turn grim. He knew he could stop everything in a single draw.

The 24-year-old hoped to never have a reason to unholster his sidearm and point it at another human being, but it becomes easier to make the decision in these circumstances.

The elderly man was being attacked and bleeding from the head, and Gene made the choice to come to his aid. He assessed the situation and acted.

With that being said, be prepared to for the legal ramifications that may occur when using your firearms in situations such as this.
