SAN BERNARDINO: Toddler points stolen gun at police
/ The Press Enterprise Staff Writer
A toddler pointed a stolen pistol at San Bernardino police detectives, who quickly disarmed the child and arrested the youngster’s mom, investigators say.
Twenty-year-old San Bernardino resident Kimberly Torres was arrested at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at her home along the 2600 block of West Rialto Avenue and booked for investigation of child endangerment and possessing stolen property, jail records show.
She was released on bail Wednesday.
Kimberly Torres has no business being a mother. You can’t help but feel bad for her 3-year-old, a child who can apparently access a loaded gun within their San Bernadino home. The child endangerment investigation shouldn’t take long; anyone with a set of eyes can see that this 20-year-old can barely keep herself out of harms way, let alone her innocent child.
I would’ve set her bail higher and turned her kid over to a responsible family member or childcare group while she spent some quality time behind bars.
A firearm should be secured and stowed in a place small hands cannot assess. This should be common sense, but not for some. Criminals are a special type of stupid. It’s just a shame their children feel the blunt of their bad decisions. Does this mother feel bad for her actions? Possibly. Did she learn her lesson? I doubt it.
Justice should be severe and swift for this incompetent parent.
