Now They Take Knives What Next Whistles

Knives being banned in the UK

The British Medical Journal said that “Many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon”. The chefs agreed that short blade knives are all that is needed in the kitchen.

Now I think things have just gotten completely out of hand here, we are at a point where it seems that people will just absolutely buy into anything. I did some research on what number of assaults involved no weapon. The numbers are staggering, when it comes to aggravated assault in 2011 according to the FBI the number of assaults using a firearm accounted for 21.2%, 19.1% were committed using a knife or other cutting weapon, while 26.9% were committed with ‘personal weapons’ such as hands, fists, or feet, the remaining 32.8% were committed with other weapons. Looking at numbers like this I wonder why it is we are allowed to leave our homes without padding our hands and feet as to protect society from more violent outbursts.

I also looked into the statistics around rapes and sexual assaults and what I found there was even more troubling. According to RAINN (Rape Abuse & Incest National Network) the number of rapes in 2001 that involved a weapon was a mere 11%. (3% used a gun, 6% used a knife, and 2 % used another form of weapon)

It is time for honesty people, weapons of any sort are not causing crime, but the facts remain clear, people that want to hurt other people will do so when they want to. These criminals will use their hands and feet, or just about anything they can get their hands on as a weapon. So lets use our common sense and not buy into the fear mongering tactics which are being used here.
