President Obama Blames Chicago’s Violence Problem on Nearby States With Less Gun Control

Our president thinks its Indiana’s fault Chicago can’t control it’s violence problem

President Obama delivered a speech to Chicago police on the topic of violence and gun control this past Tuesday according to the IndyStar. He delivered his usual emotional pleas with faulty statistics, and then expressed frustration on how America isn’t doing enough to prevent gun violence.

He said this about meeting with families who had lost children and loved ones to gun violence.

“When I meet with these families I can’t tell them our country has done everything we could to keep this from happening again”

cloak tuck 3.0But probably one of the most outrageous things in his speech was the blame shifting. He basically said that Chicago’s violence problem stems from access to guns in other states that don’t have strict gun control. Watch the entire speech here.

No, criminal behavior isn’t to be blamed, nor is the glorification of thugs and gangster lifestyles, nor poor parenting, nor the draconian gun laws that prevent innocent citizens from protecting themselves… The problem is guns, and where the criminals get them from…

The words that come out of our own President’s lips.

Sen. Jim Tomes called Obama’s comments “absolutely ridiculous.” “It doesn’t matter where the guns come from,” he said. “It’s a societal problem in Chicago. … I don’t know what in the world Indiana could have to do with their inability to deal with their criminal activity.”

The NRA made a video responding to Obama’s speech that echoed what many others are thinking is the solution to Chicago’s violence problem, other than pointing out the uselessness of Chicago’s severe gun laws. NRA’s vice president said our law enforcement and administration should actually strictly enforce our current gun laws instead of creating new ones.

The organization, which wields considerable influence in Indiana, highlighted a Chicago Sun Times article that found felons who illegally possess a gun in Chicago typically receive sentences on the low end of state sentencing guidelines. The group also said federal weapons convictions have declined nearly 35 percent over the past 10 years.

“If the president held a press conference tomorrow morning and directed every federal jurisdiction to round up every felon with a gun, drug dealer with a gun and criminal gangbanger with a gun, law enforcement would have thousands of violent thugs in handcuffs and squad cars by sundown,” said Wayne LaPierre, NRA executive vice president, in a video response to Obama’s speech.

There should be harsher penalties for criminals who are constantly being arrested for illegally obtaining firearms and other violent crimes. A better deterrent would most definitely cut down on some of the problem, and then if more citizens began to arm themselves on top of that? Criminals might start to think twice before committing said crime.

I think President Obama making Indiana a scapegoat is so ironic and such a joke… Indiana has far less crime than Chicago! Indiana is known to be a Second Amendment proponent where they arm their residents. Hate to break it to you mr. president but gun control doesn’t work in Chicago and it wouldn’t work in Indiana either.

We have always had criminals in society, and they will always find ways to access weapons and victimize people. I stand with many others in America who refuse to easily give up their life to criminals, but instead defend and carry for myself and my family.
