School bans military tradition of honoring from happening on school grounds
A high school in Belle Plaine, Iowa has banned the 21 gun salute from its Veterans Day assembly this year according to KWWL. The school says the practice is inappropriate on school grounds and it clashes with Iowa state’s gun laws.
However, a Post 39 legioneer has offered his own yard across from the school for the assembly so the salute can continue. Still, the news has angered some people in Belle Plaine, as veterans firing blank rifles at the school assembly has been a fun and safe tradition for as long as some students can remember.
Legioneers were especially disappointed before the school announced the assembly would go on at a different location, as firing the rifles was a favorite part for some.
Post 39 legioneers believe that high schools across the state, and possibly even country, may soon be following suit.
Though Belle Plaine is the first high school in the area to move their assembly off school grounds, Post 39 commander Pam Munson thinks it’s only a matter of time before other schools do the same.
The 21 gun salute has been a military practice for over a hundred years, it is fired in honor of the President’s presence, on the day of a funeral of a president, or at noon when flags are flown at half mast.
How incredibly asinine! What is this teaching the young impressionables at the high school? And what a slap in the face to our Military and traditions.
What anti-gun idiots don’t understand is that this country has been protected and defended for hundreds of years by guns. People in this country, right now, every day- use guns to protect themselves and save lives.
Our anti-gun president is protected by guns, even one of the biggest anti-gun representatives in the country -Michael Bloomberg- is protected by many armed bodyguards.
Everyone should ask themselves this, why are those anti-gun asking the people to get rid of their guns, but they will not do it themselves? Take a look at the other countries who have disarmed their people! Look at the tragic effects of countries in the past whose people were disarmed!
Look at the gun-free zones in America, 92% of mass shootings have happened in them since 2009. Does this not prove anything to us?
We need to reject this wave of anti-gun mania that is trying to attach fear and violence to the object of a gun, and reveal it for the absurdity that it is. Teach your children, friends and neighbors; help reveal to others the deception and attacks against the safety of the American people aimed at our Second Amendment.
